Kitchen
A cat that is used to climbing on kitchen furniture can be in serious danger: cookers, hotplates, pans and pots with food cooking and boiling water are some of the dangers that can be found in the kitchen.
Tilting windows
Tilting windows can be very dangerous, because if cats try to go through them, they can get stuck in them and can no longer free themselves. This poses a high risk of injuring themselves and even of suffocation.
Food
Many foods can be dangerous for the cat and cause serious poisoning. Find out which foods are dangerous for the cat and then make sure they are out of its reach.
Plants
As with food, the same applies to plants. Find out which plants are dangerous for the cat and then make sure they are out of its reach.
Poisoned morsels
Pay attention to possible poisoned morsels, or those with pins and nails in them, that some people may have thrown specifically into your garden to harm animals.
Watering can
Beware of substances such as fertilisers or insecticides that have been mixed with water and then poured into watering cans or containers. The cat may drink the water inside and runs the risk of becoming intoxicated.
Electrical wires and cables
Cats could bite the electric wires of television sets, battery chargers or other devices, running the risk of being electrocuted. Hide the wires in special plastic ducts to protect your cat.
Toys
They should be considered as dangerous in the same way as furniture objects. Many toys not specifically made for cats may have characteristics that make them potentially dangerous.
Objects
Cats are very curious, so any object within their reach is seen as play, but can be a danger. Do not leave too small objects around that can be swallowed, or sharp objects with which they could injure themselves.
Swimming pools
Some swimming pool pools have steep, slippery walls that are higher than the water level and can therefore pose a danger to the cat, which slips in without the possibility of getting out.
Buckets, tubs
For most cats water is not a danger, but it can be under certain conditions. If a kitten cat slips into a tub full of water it may not be able to get out, risking drowning. Beware also of buckets of water and toilets.
Products
Products, of course, can also be a danger to the cat. Keep all products such as detergents, disinfectants, medicines and pesticides (to name but a few categories) out of the cat's reach.
Home appliances
Cats, if they can, can hide in the washing machine, oven, fridge or other household appliances: always check that the kitten has not hidden inside, because it is quite easy for this to happen if the door is left open.
Windowsills and balconies
Windowsills and balconies are a potential danger because the cat could slip and fall down if it is distracted by, for example, an insect.
