Wonderful news comes straight from the Byculla Zoo in Mumbai, India, which welcomes two tiger cubs and three penguin chicks into its large family. Visitors can finally admire them live from 11 May.

The tiger couple Shakti and Krishna gave birth to two male cubs on 4 November 2022, and the number of penguins has also increased, generating great excitement among all veterinarians and animal care workers at the zoo.

Currently, Byculla Zoo is experiencing a strong influx of visitors. Newly hatched puppies and chicks will be an additional attraction for visitors.

Royal Bengal tiger couple Shakti, 7, and Karishma, 9, gave birth to two cubs, Jai and Rudra, on 4 November last year.

Both Shakti and Karishma were transferred to the Byculla Zoo from Chhattrapati Sambhajinagar's Siddharth Zoo in Aurangabad on 11 February 2020. The two cubs will stay with Karishma for two years and will be fed the same meat as their mother.

At the same time, the family of Humboldt penguins also grew in number, and reached 15 with the birth of three more penguins. The three new penguin chicks were named Dora, Siri and Nemo respectively.

The penguin breeding pair Donald (male) and Daisy (female) laid a single egg and on 21 February a female chick named Dora was born. Another breeding penguin pair, Molt (male) and Flipper (female), also laid a single egg and a female chick, named Siri, was born on 2 October 2022. The third chick, named Nemo, was born to the breeding pair Popeye (male) and Olive (female) on 13 December 2022.

The zoo authorities also informed that another pair of penguins, Oreo and Bubble, is expected to lay eggs next June. The zoo authorities also appealed to visitors not to bump into the glass walls of the museum, which disturb the normal life of the animals.
